Any of you ever witnessed the Pohly gang at a swimming pool. It's the 8th wonder of the world. Truly a sight to behold. They bascially see if they can drown each other. It is a constant frenzy of activity. There are 7 offspring for those of you who don't know them. While one is jumping off the diving board, another is jumping off the top of the slide, as a another one is sliding down the slide, while yet another one is waiting at the bottom of the slide to tackle the one coming down, while another one is flipping the last one off the float and drowning the one that is on the float. This is what I got to see yesterday. The Pohly 7 went with me to my parents pool. My dad and mom just sat on the porch and watched and laughed. My mom cooked hamburgers, made chocolate ice cream and gooey butter cake. Good stuff!
Last night I had dinner with the Shults. Michelle is a pretty dang good cook.
You know, there are certain people in my life that I feel totally free to share my heart with. There are also people in my life that I wouldn't tell jack. I think I know why. Some people can deal with tough stuff. Some can't.
You are probably like me. People constantly say to you, "If you need to talk, you can tell me anything." But, do you trust them. Likely you don't. How do I know that? I see people for who they really are. Lately, I have stepped into the world of being around what I call a Ragamuffin Band. God has put me around people that don't have other people. These people scare the hell out of church folks. That is who God has put in my path. Check this out; Not only do I accept them cussing, drinking, smoking, etc... and all, but, they accept others very well. For the superspiritual folks reading this, (You know the ones who think they are here to make sure that we all do everything exactly right), I don't condone bad behavior. I just don't make it my business to run yours.
"Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much," (James 5:16).
The ideal here is for us to confess to other Christians. The problem is our view of who is a Christian has been damaged by church people. I bet the last person that most people would want to confess to is a church person. Confession is good. It is necessary.
Most folks would rather confess to a bar tender, my space friends, blogs, and other folks that they know will accept them unconditionally and love them. The world has taken the place of good confession. It isn't that they took it captive. The church people developed such difficult standards beyond what Scripture teaches that folks just decided to go elsewhere for their confessions. Can you blame them? Just because you say you can accept and love someone doesn't mean you can. Lost people are some of the most loving and accepting people I have met. CAUTION SELF RIGHTEOUS PERSON: That last statement may hurt a bit and take a while to reconcile (that rhymed). I got more where that came from. I'll be here all week.
Be careful where you share your heart. I am not saying don't be honest. Just be careful. The best place for true confession is with a godly person, not a church person. Note the difference.
I love you, your servant, your friend,
Tim
